Work in progress / Prace w toku

I haven’t touched my needles for quite a long time. But I’m feeling the itch to knit again. It happens every time, when I have so much to do I don’t know what to work on first. And now I have the invitations project, some new ideas for muffins (white chocolate, banana and hazelnuts or raisins), pumpkin or carrot bread and gingerbread (there is always a good time for gingerbread) with Stout (a special kind of dark beer), a brilliant idea for a felt purse and last but not least – the urge to knit of course. Because knitting is just a perfect pick-up-and-put-down hobby, this will happen at the earliest. Actually it’s happening already.
I bought four skeins of Elian Nicky (100% acrylic, but with gorges sheen to it, and it feels like the highest quality cotton) in this beautiful mint colour and I have a one skein leftover of purple Nicky from a shawl that I made for my mom, so I decided to make a knitted dress for my niece. She’s 13 months old, but she’s very small for her age. I guess she’ll stay that way, because neither her mom nor her grandma is a giant. Sometimes I feel like a freak of nature when I’m with them. With my 1,74m and theirs 1,52m. ;-) The difference is striking.
Anyway – I casted on for this Anouk as a Dress pattern yesterday. I plan to do some mods – a picot bordering instead of seed stich and a centred pocket on the chest also with picot border. I wonder how it will turn out?
Also, I’m planning the letting out of my first pattern for next week. Still have to contact Renee about it. ;-) Man, I’m looking forward to this!

W każdym razie - nabrałam wczoraj oczka ten wzór Anouk as a Dress.

In the pursuit of Polish absurd / W pogoni za absurdem

There is only one thing you need to know about Poland. It is a Land of Absurd. The origins of this state are probably deep in the communist period. Briefly - the ruthless Authorities created so many nonsensical laws so the people took pride in not being obedient to them. The only problem is that communism ended over twenty years ago. But the fifty years of habit can’t be overcome easily. We –the Young Generation – are fighting with our common Polish absurd that occurs in everyday life. But sometimes it’s just impossible to stand up to the task. To face the army of grannies in mohair-berets is almost as frightening as facing Satan himself. ;-)
Anyway, the other day on my walk to work, I saw this.

For those of you who do not speak polish a translation – the sign says “You mustn’t feed the birds!”. And then people are complaining about pigeons…

Inspiration Monday

#7

I don’t know about you, but I always put my smartphone along with other stuff than may scratch it. Honestly, I just throw it into my purse. It’s a bad thing. You don’t want to know how my phone looks like after a couple of months of traveling with my keys. ;-) Amy of Made DuringQuiet Time, has just the answer to the problem. A very simple pouch – thought for an iPhone, but will work just as well for any other phone. Can’t wait to make one for myself.

{Pouch Tutorial}
Serio, po prostu wrzucam go do torebki. To źle. Amy z bloga Made During Quiet Time ma rozwiązanie tego problemu.

A week of blessings plus Shoes:-) / Tydzień dobroci i Buty :-)

1 Monday Zumba – we have a new instructor. Her style is totally different from any other instructor that we had in these past months. She makes the classes more static and focus more on the correctness of movement than on the dancing-like-Zumba. Do I like it? I don’t know yet.
2.       Tuesday – the swimming training with my father. :-) I have to watch him, because he is not allowed to push himself to hard, which he likes to do (still wondering where I got it from?). Before the pool I painted a few invitations. Work is in progress.
3.       Wednesday – the one day “off” that I have. This time my friend Ola came by and We baked some chocolate-nut-muffins. Yam. :-D Ola is also my possible-to-be business partner. We want to open a coffee shop near the Old Market (which is the historic and cultural center of our city). We still don’t know where to get the money from, but it WILL happen. The most important thing that I have learned on Camino is that dreams DO come true. You just have to help them a little. Anyway – the muffins were fine and I managed not to burn them – still need to experiment a little with the recipe.
4.       Thursday – another swimming training. This time on my own. That day I also watched the most wonderful movie “A good year” with Russell Crowe. My God that film is sure positive. It gave me the kick I needed that day. After the pool on the bus I met Mat and his girlfriend. He was asking me about the muffins. :-)
-          You made the muffins yesterday?
-          Yes…
-          With chocolate and walnuts?
-          Yes… :-D
He just gave a deep sigh.
5         Friday – another Zumba. This time with an instructor that I like and respect. She’s great – I can barely stand on my own two feet after her practices. Later on I painted another couple of invitations.
Number of invitations painted so far – 12.
6         Saturday – a day well spend working in my parents garden. There were some rake in the use, as well as some painting has been made. Not invitations, but stairs this time. ;-) I must admit, that I was so tired after the whole day spend in the open, that when I received an invitation (ha ha) to a late evening grill I was just too exhausted to go. Maybe next time.
7         Sunday – a bought myself a brand new pair of trainers. Which bring us to the end of my week, and to the second part of this post – the shoes. This is a small tribute to my old pair of trainers. The seasons are changing and trainers come and go. ;-)

Prace w toku.
To taki pozytywny film. :-)
- Piekłyście wczoraj?
-Taaak…
- Z czekoladą i orzechami?
- Taak…
- Echhhh
To kończy mój tydzień dobroci i nieuchronnie prowadzi nas do drugiej części posta, czyli butów. Oto takie małe coś na cześć moich starych tenisówek. Pory roku się zmieniają, a tenisówki przychodzą i odchodzą. ;-)

Inspiration Monday

#6

I know that my blogging wasn’t very systematic. And it probably never will be, to be honest. The one thing, which I’m trying to do systematically, is the “Inspiration Monday”. Because of the “laptop problem” I am out of cash for some time, so the painting of my room had to be postponed. Well, you just can’t have everything in life, can you? Keeping the spirit though, I give you this wonderful tutorial for painted wallpaper. A lot of work and steady hand is needed, but the result... Oh – just look at that!

Painted wallpaper {a tutorial}
