Knowing the path / Znać ścieżkę

Knowing the path and following it are two very different things – this obvious fact is what I’ve learned recently.
To brief you in – I have food issues. Let’s just say that there are periods of time when I love it a little too much and then there are periods of time when I absolutely hate it. It’s a sinusoid. Any form of diet or weight control is dangerous for me.
Last week I faced a small problem that referred to those issues. I’m doing endurance training before my first 1.5K open-water race which is next month, and my coach wanted to measure and weight me. When I refused she was puzzled. I suggested a fitness test instead.
I’m in a point of my sinusoid when it’s best not to know what size clothes I wear or how many kilograms I carry. It’s a dangerous point because from here there are two possible paths:
I can slide down and start to hate myself again and do bad things (like starving myself)
I can start to embrace myself as I am and redirect my focus from weight and looks to strength and health

So now my results: after two years of training my HR max is 220, my average HR was 143, I managed to “run” 5152 meters in 30 minutes, to swim approximately 37 meters underwater holding my breath and to plank for 71 seconds. Planking was a pain… ;-) Not to mention that I felt like I’m about to pass out after the dive. ;-) But I’m proud of myself.
One day I hope to be an inspiration for other “dysplastic” sportswoman. But now I need to concentrate on myself. I know the path – I can see it in front of me – this is the moment when I should stop hesitating, accept my fear and do the right thing… But it’s so hard.

To sinusoida.

  1. I've never been one that likes knowing my weight either (especially now because I know it's far too much). It was always something I dreaded in school.
